GREGÓRIO DE MATOS, THE SACREDNESS AND THE BAROQUE

Abstract

Segismundo Spina remembers that Priest Antônio Vieira ";once complained because better fruit produced Gregório's satires than his own sermons";. For this reason, we believe that ";The Hell Mouth"; (O Boca do Inferno) needs also be known by this mystical and sacred facet because it has not received due attention. Our proposition is to show to the students of letters another poet, less known, but extremely rich in his sacred lyric, impregnated by beautiful and Christian reflections, according to his Catholic faith.
