The subject in (The Circle of) Bakhtin’s perspective

Abstract

Our aim is to describe and analyze in (the Circle of) Bakhtin ́s theory the notion of subject, which is intrinsically related to his conception of language. The analysis of basic notions – sign, conscience, ideology, dialogism, utterance, discursive genre and responsibility – show that (i) the study of language must, necessarily, consider that the subjects are inscribed in inter-subjective relations that occur in a certain social reality; (ii) such subjects are not considered passive, unconscious or autonomous and free in relation to the language: they are dialogic and responsible subjects.
